Web- & Graphic Design

About

Hi, I’m Jana Eger, a Berlin based freelance graphic designer. Since 2012 I’ve been working for companies, agencies and government funded institutions in Germany and all across Europe. My work in graphic design for print and digital encompasses corporate publishing (annual reports are my cup of coffee) and infographics. My strengths are fluent communication and clean outline-icons illustrations, which I create for print publications and as the web optimized version known as pixel-perfect.

How I work (with you)

Every project is unique. This is a guideline of the working relationship with me.

  • 1. Meet&Greet/Analysis

Before the projects starts, I’d like to know your company’s wishes, vision and values. Do you have a clear idea in mind already or do you need more consultation?
  • 2. Research/Concept

I start the project by collecting all data necessary and begin working the concept. To exclude ideas, I’ll have a look at your competitors.
  • 3. Scribbles/Exploring

Next in line is scribbling of solutions, creating the design grid und testing of layout approaches. Broad infographics need a good communication at that point – so that illustrations and content fit perfectly.
  • 4. Layout/Final Artwork

Work out and finalise layout, determine elements and grid, etc. I work precisely and with an eye for detail on every project. The project is not over until everyone is happy.
  • 5.a Development/Online

If the project is a website, I’ll hand over the final artwork to your developer. You don’t have one? No problem, if you like have a look the profile of Dennis Münchow. We’ve been working together for years.
  • 5.b Managing Production/Proof

I’ll be happy to find a matching manufacturer and on request I’ll manage print production and if needed I’ll handle the proof process as well.
This is my workstation – if the project requires me to be at your office, drop me a line and I'll bring my laptop too.

Design is… when you say pink instead of magenta.

I am a Berlin based freelance graphic designer. I work directly with companies/clients, develop projects with my network of other freelancers and agencies in Berlin, in Germany and now even in Europe. Design is not fixed on a location – if I work with non-Berlin clients, I just communicate via phone, email, skype, slack or else. In order to get to know each other, it can be helpful to meet in person. That I will do, if you have good coffee in your office. Black coffee, no sugar or milk.

My design background is in print design, but I added digital skills during my scholarship in London and my first co-working space (4 years of closely working together with front- and backend-developers). This add-on to my know-how gives me the ability to create well rounded projects that are not limited to the analogue print design. For example, I illustrate an icon-set for an annual report and it should be integrated as a pixel-perfect optimized version on a website or an app.

My designs are a mixture between hard work, years of experience and a passion for aesthetics. My main focus is corporate publishing, infographics, graphic design and outline icons illustration. In addition to my Abobe and Sketch based software skills, I also work with MS Powerpoint to create pitches or master template for my clients. In all fairness, even if it is no match to Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign, the small Microsoft presentation hero might surprise you.

I don’t strive ”off-the-shelf-layouts“, but a design which fits precisely the client / target group needs. Therefore, I’m always glad to receive as many as project related information as possible. Are there any design guidelines, a vague or even a detailed idea? Even a small project deserves a good basis.

Design was and will always be the fuel that drive me, so if you are looking for freelance graphic designer, drop me a line (contact@jana-eger.com) or give a call +49 30 65 83 85 74.
